Viewing the XSheet
Scrolling the XSheet
When you move the XSheet's scrollbars, only parts of the panel move. Other parts don't scroll, so you can still see the important information they hold.
- When you move the vertical scrollbar, it scrolls the frames in the lower part of the panel.
- The header area and the node names and notes don't move.
- When you move the horizontal scrollbar, it scrolls the Notes column and the nodes.
- The frame column remains attached to the left side of the panel; you can thus always see which frames you are working on. The header area doesn't move either.
Hiding the header area
You can hide the header area so you can view more frames in the panel; choose XSheet > Hide Header Area. To redisplay it, choose XSheet > Show Header Area.
Contracting and expanding nodes
You can contract nodes in the XSheet so they're almost hidden, or hide them completely; you can later expand them so they reappear. You can use this to hide the nodes you're not working with, or to bring two nodes closer together so you can work on them together.
To contract nodes, you can:
- Select the nodes you wish to contract, and then choose XSheet > Contract Selected.
- Select the nodes you don't wish to contract, and then choose XSheet > Contract Unselected.
Note that:
- If you contract a large number of adjacent nodes, they're not all shown whilst contracted; this saves you yet more space in the XSheet.
- If a node is not connected to the graph, it's colored white whilst contracted, to remind you of this.
To hide nodes, you can:
- Select the nodes you wish to hide, and then choose XSheet > Hide Selected.
- Select the nodes you don't wish to hide, and then choose XSheet > Hide Unselected.
To expand the nodes again, you can:
- Select the nodes you wish to expand, and then choose XSheet > Expand Selected.
- Remember you can select nodes by selecting the corresponding nodes in the Scene Graph; see Selecting nodes
- Choose XSheet > Expand All to expand all contracted nodes.
Alternatively you might like to consider hiding the nodes in the Scene Graph, with which you can contract not only the XSheet nodes, but also the Scene Graph. For details, see Hiding and redisplaying groups of nodes.
Hiding empty columns
You can also hide empty columns:
- To hide specific empty columns, select them (see Selecting columns) and then choose XSheet > Hide Empty Selected Sub-columns.
- You must select the columns themselves, not the node holding them.
- To hide all empty columns, ensure you don't have a column selected (say by selecting a node instead), and then choose XSheet > Hide Empty Unselected Sub-columns.
- To leave some empty columns showing so you can work on them, but hide the rest, select the columns and choose XSheet > Hide Empty Unselected Sub-columns.
You can make hidden columns appear again:
- Select the node(s) holding them (see Selecting nodes), and choose XSheet > Show Empty Sub Columns in Selection.
Note that if you create a key in a hidden column (for example by moving a drawing in the Drawing Window), the column is automatically made visible for you.
Adding extra Frame Number and Notes columns
You can add extra Frame Number and Notes columns:
- To add an extra Frame column, choose XSheet > Add Frame Number Column.
- To add an extra Notes column, choose XSheet > Add Notes Column.
